Meet Bhavya

Bhavya is a final-year Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), advised by Dr. ChengXiang Zhai. Her research interests broadly lie in the applications of AI, particularly Natural Language Processing, in various domains including education, IT and healthcare. Previously, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science at UIUC. She also has prior industry experience working as a Data Scientist at Gartner. Upon graduation, she will be joining IBM Research, Yorktown Heights as an AI Research Scientist.

Meet Richa Meherwal

Richa is a visionary Lead Data Scientist at Progressive, driving cutting-edge Generative AI projects that transform the insurance industry. With over half a decade of expertise in AI, she has spearheaded large-scale machine learning applications, impacting 650+ business users. Her diverse experience spans predictive modeling for healthcare insurance, publishing research on distributed systems, and teaching natural language processing at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Richa’s innovative spirit led her to author a paper on real-time distributed systems and develop AI systems for academic experimentation. Holding a Master’s in Computer Science and a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from UIUC, Richa is dedicated to empowering individuals to harness AI technology efficiently and safely. As a seasoned expert, she shares her insights to shape the future of AI and its applications.

Meet Dr. Vipul Chaturvedi

Dr. Vipul Chaturvedi is a leading researcher in material science and engineering, holding a PhD from the University of Minnesota (2021) with a minor in electrical engineering. He has authored over 10 scientific publications, garnering more than 110 citations. He has also served as a referee for numerous peer-reviewed journals in condensed matter physics and materials science fields. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Data Scientist at Intel in Portland, Oregon. As a data scientist, he leverages his domain expertise in materials science and electrical engineering, combined with advanced data analytics and machine learning tools, to lead scientific research into novel semiconductor device architectures. He is a strong advocate for integrating data science, machine learning principles, and AI tools into various interdisciplinary domains to drive scientific breakthroughs.

Ahalya Vikram is a seasoned expert in the field of data science, currently holding the position of Senior Manager of Data Science at Progressive Insurance. With over a decade of experience in utilizing advanced analytics and machine learning to drive business innovation, Ahalya has played a pivotal role in establishing Progressive as a leader in data-driven decision-making.

Ahalya holds a Master’s degree in Business and Computer Technology, where her research focused on predictive analytics and the development of sophisticated machine learning algorithms. Her academic background is complemented by an extensive professional trajectory that includes significant roles at top-tier technology firms and consulting engagements across diverse industries.
