Meet Alice
Alice Demeter has over 40 years of experience in the IT industry, beginning her career as a mainframe developer in an era when women were a rare presence in the field of information technology. Her expertise and leadership skills grew in application development positions at prominent IT shops in Northeast Ohio. This foundation eventually led her to transition into project management, a move that brought her to Progressive Insurance nearly two decades ago.
Alice subsequently moved into IT Management where her passion for talent development aligned well. She has managed diverse teams of IT developers and analysts, built and managed a Lean team to enable Progressive to adopt a continuous improvement framework, and most recently is managing a team of 18 Solution Architects within Progressive’s Architecture & Technology Strategy organization.
Outside of her corporate career, Alice has a heart to give back to her community by volunteering in the nonprofit sector. She has served on numerous local boards, is a graduate of the Leadership Lake County program, and is a past President of the Western Reserve Junior Service League. During her presidency, Alice initiated and led the strategic efforts to modernize and strengthen the organization’s capabilities by creating a mentoring program to raise up future leaders, expanded the use of social media to increase awareness of the community services provided, and established an endowment fund to provide long-term financial support for area nonprofits.
Alice and her husband, Michael, live in Mentor, Ohio. They enjoy traveling across our beautiful United States, but their favorite adventures involve spending time with their very energetic little 3-year old granddaughter.
